MRI of the liver with Primovist

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with Primovist is a diagnostic procedure that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to create images of the liver. The liver is a vital organ that plays an important role in the body’s metabolic and detoxification processes. MRI with Primovist can be used to evaluate the liver for various diseases such as tumors, inflammation or damage caused by hepatitis. This procedure is generally well tolerated by patients and poses few risks.

Primovist® (GD-EOB-DTPA, gadoliniumethoxybenzyl diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid) is a liver-specific gadolinium-based contrast agent that, due to its high hepatocyte specificity – combined with dynamic imaging – is superior to other MR contrast agents in both detection and characterization .

In the preoperative diagnosis of liver metastases z. B. Primovist enables the detection of lesions up to the 3mm range. Thanks to Primovist, MRI of the liver is superior in this respect to all other modalities, including even modern PET-CT.
